why learn german?
GERMAN IS BIG! It is spoken by more than 90 million people across Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, parts of Belgium and South Tyrol in Italy. Beside being a key language in the European Union, it is also the language of writers and thinkers like Goethe and Kant, of poets like Heine, artists like Klimt - the language of musicians like Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Wagner, and of the songs they wrote. Learning German means accessing a wealth of knowledge, history and philosophy.
GERMAN IS FASCINATING! It has a word for almost everything you can think of and its ability to freely combine nouns into new words means it can create infinitely long words (try this one: “Donaudampfschifffahrtsgesellschaftskapitänsmütze”). German can express complex ideas extremely accurately. It boasts four cases, three grammatical genders and a lot of quirky idioms. Who but Germans would walk around with “tomatoes on their eyes” or insist on “playing the first violin” when they actually play piano?

pick your class type
I offer structured courses for each language level, private one-to-ones, conversation classes as well as exam preparation. Prices depend on group size and class type (see below for details). Classes usually run 45min. Group classes are 1-5 times weekly, as you prefer. Individual classes flexible. Courses of 20 classes are discounted. All classes take place online.
Through carefully designed, tailor-made lessons you will build vocabulary, grammar and confidence and apply your knowledge to new contexts each day. You will be speaking from day one! My classes follow a competence- and learner-based approach. The core competencies of speaking, writing, reading and listening comprehension are all developed equally.
group classes
From 7€ per person. All participants should be roughly on the same language level. Levels A0-C2. Maximum of 8 students per class to enable individual feedback.
conversation classes
From 4€ per person. Minimum number of students is 6 students, maximum 12 students. All students need to have B1 level or above. Topics are selected to fit students’ interests.
individual classes
45€ per person. Any level or learning goal is possible. Individualised materials and extensive feedback are provided. This format is best if you want to achieve a specific goal very quickly.
exam preparation
From 8€ (group)/45€ (individual) per person. Preparation for Telc or TestDaF, all levels. Includes timed practice on authentic papers across all 4 core competencies.
GERMAN THROUGH MUSIC
From 8€ (group)/40€ (individual) per person. For music lovers and professional musicians: Learn German through the things you love — singing and understanding song lyrics, pronunciation for singers, exploring musical works, notation, theory or music history.

Listen to it, hum it, shout it out loud, sing it. Draw it in the air, close your eyes and see what pictures come up…

Which words stand out to you? Look up their meaning. Find out how they’re pronounced. Does the sound remind you of other words you know? Speak them aloud and get comfortable with them.

Read a summary or translation of the whole lyrics. What is the song’s message? Do you like it or agree with what it says?

Sing the whole tune to yourself, to a friend, your plant, your dog, sing it taking a shower, preparing coffee, sweeping the porch…
